A New Position Paper on Antisemitism in the 2014 Swedish Elections

Tuesday, 28 October, 2014
We are glad to announce the publication of the October 2014 Kantor Center Position Paper. It's called "Antisemitism and the Struggle for the 'Good' Society: Ambivalent Responses to Antisemitic Attitudes and Ideas in the 2014 Swedish Electoral Race," and it's written by Swedish historian Kristin Wagrell. Several candidates from various political parties represented in the Swedish Parliament, also self-professed anti-racist ones, expressed antisemitic attitudes in the months leading up to the general elections in September 2014. The slow and reluctant response from the political parties raises serious questions about their ability and willingness to identify and combat antisemitism when it doesn't manifest itself in neo-Nazi forms.
